Montclair State in Your Neighborhood: N.J. and Florida

With more than 110,000 alumni living in all 50 states and worldwide, the Office of Alumni Relations at Montclair State University hosts events across the country to give alumni a chance to connect and network with others in their neighborhood. You already have one thing in common: Montclair State! It’s all about connections, and your connection to Montclair State University lasts as lifetime. As part of an ongoing initiative to create a network among Montclair State graduates in New Jersey, New York, Florida and the West Coast, our goal is to bring Montclair State engagement opportunities to these regions.

Past gatherings have been held in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, West Palm Beach, and in multiple locations in New Jersey including the Jersey Shore, Clifton, Jersey City, Morristown and Hoboken.

In the coming months, The Office of Alumni Relations will host alumni networking opportunities in Northern N.J. and Florida as part of Montclair State’s series of regional events and activities.

Coming up in February is our annual Montclair State Alumni Day with the NJ Devils. Join fellow Montclair State graduates for an alumni gathering on Sunday, February 12, at the Prudential Center. Enjoy an exclusive pre-game reception beginning at 11:00 a.m. followed by the game, where you’ll watch from a great seat location in the lower level, as the New Jersey Devils take on the San Jose Sharks at 12:30 p.m. After the game, the group will have the opportunity to take a photo around the Devils logo at center ice.

“I am a huge Devils fan and hockey is such a fun sport to watch! The reception beforehand lets you mingle with fellow Red Hawks. My sister and I really enjoyed our time at Montclair State University, and especially love all of the alumni events they offer, says Jennifer Casselli LoRusso ’09. We think it’s great that Montclair State gives so much back to its graduates, and now I also love sharing all the fun events offered with my husband, Kevin, who has definitely become an honorary Red Hawk!”

The Office of Alumni Relations will also be hosting events in Sarasota and Pompano Beach, Florida. On February 9, alumni are invited to a luncheon reception for Montclair State University alumni and friends hosted by Fredric Bednarek ’59. This is a great opportunity for alumni in the area to learn about Montclair State’s notable recent accomplishments and exciting future plans from Vice President John T. Shannon.

At the reception, join Professor Brigid Harrison as we address the topic: “Battling for the Hearts of Americans: Florida’s Presidential Politics as a Microcosm of America”. To learn more and register, please visit the February 9 event page.
