8th Annual Signature Wine Tasting

Nearly 150 alumni and friends of the University gathered on April 11 for the 8th Annual Signature Wine Tasting. Focusing on Spanish wines, attendees were able to learn a history and overview of the region, learn the basics of tasting wine, and sample various wines throughout the evening.

In addition to alumni and their guests, members of the Class of 2018 were also invited to their first official alumni event. Select parents were also invited to the dinner event, which allowed time for networking and socializing both before and after the presentation began. Mark Fabyanski, co-chair of the Parents Council at Montclair State, attended the event with his wife and helped to recruit other volunteers.

Several Alumni Campus Employees were in attendance as well. As our best ambassadors for the University, these alumni dedicate their time and talents to the campus community. Attendees included Dann Truitt ’14, Program Assistant for the College of Science and Mathematics; Hannah Wiese ’13, Coordinator of Marketing and Digital Media, Student Development and Campus Life; and Jeffrey Schonfeld ’04, Associate Registrar.

“I had a wonderful with my friends at this year’s wine tasting,” notes Scholfeld. “We all enjoyed the food and drink. Thank you, as always, to the Alumni Relations team, for putting together another wonderful event. The University is definitely lucky to have such great programming for alumni and the community.”

Be on the lookout for invitations to our Summer Fun Series, kicking off in June. The series will include a NJ Jackals Game, Red Bulls II Game, A Day at the Races at Monmouth Park, and more. Also, save the date for Homecoming 2018, scheduled for October 6.

“My sister Laurie and I love attending the alumni wine tasting!” says alumna Jennifer LoRusso ’09. “Sommelier Gerry Piserchia introduces so many delicious wines and his knowledge of the industry is so fascinating! Each year he highlights wines from a different region of the world, and we learn so much each time. It’s a fun night out, sipping and mingling with fellow Red Hawks! We also cannot wait for the first alumni NJ Jackals game this summer, especially with the new field and scoreboard! We have been going to games for years and are excited to share it with our proud alumni!”
