With more than 130,000 alumni living in all 50 states and worldwide and with over eighty percent of alumni living in New Jersey and New York, monthly networking gatherings are planned in NYC and throughout the state of NJ to bring Montclair State to your neighborhood.

On November 29, alumni gathered at the Hyatt Regency in Morristown. The networking event was a great opportunity for graduates to come together and build their network, meet fellow graduates and chat with university leadership.

Over 50 graduates, representing class years from the 70’s to our most recent graduating class of 2018, came together to spend a night with their alma mater. Some alumni were attending their first alumni event and many lived in Morris County and were pleased to see Montclair State in their neighborhood, offering an easy way for them to connect with fellow graduates.

“I reached out to another fellow alumni to come with me and we were pleasantly surprised to see three other of our friends who were also in attendance,” says alumna Lauren Charles ’14. “It was nice to take a moment to catch up with each other around the holiday season and see what new things were happening on campus.”

Alumni had a chance to hear a brief update on Montclair State’s recent accomplishments and exciting future plans and learn about Soar, The Campaign for Montclair State University.  Another highlight was a welcome from Dean Greg Cant of the Feliciano School of Business who shared exciting university news and updates. The event was also the first formal introduction of new Vice President for Development, Colleen Coppla, who gave an update on Soar and shared progress towards the $75 million goal. Alumni also had a chance to view the brand new campaign video, which features Montclair State students and was filmed and edited by students and recent alumni.

On December 5, Red Hawks gathered to network at Smithfield Hall. Located conveniently in New York City, the networking event was a great way for alumni to reconnect with old friends, meet fellow graduates and enjoy an evening out in NYC.

“We are always excited to bring Montclair State to New York City,” says Jenna Villani ’11 MA, Associate Director of Alumni Relations. “Alumni and guests in attendance have the chance to hear what’s new at Montclair State, while meeting fellow alumni from the area. It’s a great way to reconnect with their alma mater.”

There was representation from a wide range of class years, majors and career paths. Alumni shared stories from their time at Montclair State and mingled over complimentary beverages and appetizers. They spent the evening making new connections, catching up and engaging with faculty and administration.
