Montclair State in Your Neighborhood: Northern New Jersey

It’s all about connections and your connection to Montclair State University lasts a lifetime. With more than 130,000 alumni living in all 50 states and worldwide, the Office of Alumni Engagement at Montclair State hosts events across the country that give you an opportunity to connect with the University and network with fellow alumni and friends in your neighborhood. You already have one thing in common: Montclair State!

As part of our ongoing initiative to build and strengthen the alumni network, Montclair State engagement opportunities are planned on campus and in regions. In the coming months, the Office of Alumni Engagement will host alumni networking opportunities in northern New Jersey as part of Montclair State’s series of regional events and activities.

Clifton: An Evening at the Shannon Rose – January 23

On January 23, join fellow alumni for a networking opportunity at the Shannon Rose in Clifton. It will be great opportunity to socialize and network with fellow Montclair State University graduates with the added twist of Montclair State trivia. In addition, you’ll have an exclusive opportunity to chat with some of the University’s leadership, including Dan Gurskis, Dean of the College of the Arts, and Colleen Coppla, Vice President for Development. You’ll hear a brief update on Montclair State’s recent accomplishments and exciting future plans. Complimentary beverages and appetizers will be served.

Newark: NJ Devils Game – February 7

On February 7, you have the opportunity to enjoy a night filled with networking while you watch a hockey game with fellow graduates. Join us for a gathering at the Prudential Center for our annual Montclair State Alumni Night with the NJ Devils. The night is set to begin with an exclusive pre-game reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. The reception will be then followed by the game, where you will have the opportunity to watch from a great seat location in the lower level, as the New Jersey Devils take on the New York Islanders at 7:00 p.m. After the game, the group will take a photo around the Devils logo at center ice. It will be a memorable hockey night spent with fellow Montclair State graduates.

Alumni who have joined us in past have expressed their enthusiasm for the annual event. “The annual NJ Devil’s game is a fun way to connect with the ever expanding family of Montclair State alumni,” says Becky Pataky ’12 MA. “It’s an event that I look forward to and a nice way to support The Fund for Montclair State.”

For Ilsa McGuire ’09, who is attending the event for the first time, the event gives her the opportunity to watch her favorite team while celebrating her alma mater. “My family and I are so excited to join Montclair State alumni at a NJ Devils game and celebrate both our favorite local NHL team and my academic achievement,” she says.
