Montclair State in Your Neighborhood

Montclair State at One World Observatory – March 27

Celebrate an evening of networking with fellow Red Hawks at One World Observatory on Wednesday, March 27. Registration includes a discounted ticket up to the observatory floor, complimentary food and beverage, and a $5 contribution to The Fund for Montclair State. In 43 seconds, climb to the top of the Freedom Tower for an unforgettable experience and spectacular views of New York City and New Jersey.

“I’m looking forward to seeing a few of my classmates and connecting with other alumni,” says Julissa Duran ’19 MBA, assistant director of Undergraduate Admissions for Marketing and Communications at Montclair State. “Being that I just graduated in January 2019, I’m also interested in learning about the different resources and benefits available. And of course, I’m so excited to see the amazing view at the One World Observatory!”

For Stephanie Arriola ’18, the event is a great opportunity to network with fellow alumni and University administrators. As she puts it, “I cannot express enough how important it is to take advantage of networking opportunities that present themselves. Always leap for those networking opportunities because you never know who you’ll meet. That next step in your career is only a networking event away.”

If you plan on attending, please register online or contact Katelin Spooner, Office of Alumni Engagement, at 973-655-3323 or spoonerk@montclair.edu.

9th Annual Signature Wine Tasting – April 16

On Tuesday, April 16, join fellow wine lovers as you are led through an evening of learning about wines from France. Anyone can drink wine, but it takes practice to recognize and distinguish a wine’s characteristics. Learn how to taste wine like the pros, starting with your basic senses – look, smell and taste – and expand from there. In addition to learning the key aspects of wine tasting, you will also be provided with an overview of the wine regions in France, as well as the history and description of each of the wines you will sample.

“I saw this event as an opportunity to engage with some fellow alumni over wine and food,” says past attendee, Jeffrey Poulos ’15, career advisor at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Montclair State. “Since I was unfamiliar with the different types of wine, I thought it would be a win-win situation where I can learn about how wine is produced and the origin, while simultaneously networking with both alumni and colleagues from Montclair State.”

If you plan on attending, please register online by Wednesday, April 10, or calling the Office of Alumni Engagement at 973-655-4141. If you do not pre-register, walk-in registration is $50 and will be based on available seating.

Scottsdale Alumni Reception – April 16

Mark your calendar for an opportunity to connect with you alma mater, fellow alumni and friends in Arizona. We’re heading to Scottsdale on Tuesday, April 16, and are excited to invite you to a cocktail reception at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch. The event will be a great opportunity to network with fellow graduates living and working in your area, and learn about the exciting happenings at Montclair State!

If you plan on attending, please register online by Tuesday, April 9. For information, contact Katelin Spooner, Office of Alumni Engagement, at spoonerk@montclair.edu or 973-655-3323.

You’ll have an opportunity to hear from keynote speaker, Michael Caracappa ’15, law clerk to the Honorable Walter F. Timpone, Supreme Court of New Jersey.

“The Annual Attorney Alumni Network Gathering is the best way to re-connect with old classmates and make new connections with fellow alumni who are also practicing attorneys,” says Frank Derienzo ‘09.  I have met many fellow alumni who, but for this event, I would have never known entered the practice of law.”
