Montclair State at Your Fingertips – DigitalU

With many on-campus and off-campus events postponed or canceled, there is another way to stay connected to Montclair State – visit DigitalU.

Engage in digital opportunities from recorded career events to lectures from faculty research. Alumni have access to all things Montclair State from the comfort of their homes or on their lunch breaks.

“In an effort to meet our alumni where they live – online – we have implemented a series of digital events to bring Montclair State to our alumni,” says Stacy Albanese Fagioli ’08, ’17 MA, associate director of Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement.

The menu of digital engagement opportunities includes talks from faculty about their research, recorded career workshops and webinars about “adulting” topics – from student loans and financial literacy to self-care.

The signature series of digital events is the DigitalU series. These talks highlight various areas across campus to promote key programs and educate alumni about a diverse array of initiatives happening at their alma mater. Faculty can share their research, staff can talk about new programs and alumni get to hear and see all about it at their convenience.

Make sure to check out the most recent recordings:

  • Professor Elizabeth Emery, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, uses the example of collector-suffragette Louisine Havemeyer to discuss the challenges facing women collectors in nineteenth-century France and the United States.
  • Take a virtual tour of the George Segal Gallery! Learn about what goes into securing and installing an exhibition, how the gallery is maintained and its history.
  • Check out the great facilities in the Food Science and Nutrition Labs at the College of Education and Human Services. Hear from faculty and students about the program and how they apply what they learn outside of the classroom.
  • Don’t forget – there are many more recordings available! These include topics on personal branding, public speaking, interviews and more.

“We want to bring Montclair State to our alumni,” says Fagioli. “We want to show off how great our campus is and encourage alumni to come back and see all we have to offer. But if you can’t make it back, at least you can enjoy these programs at your convenience.”

The best part? All of our DigitalU programs are filmed, edited, and produced by students in the School of Communication and Media.
