We all know it can be hard to stick to New Year’s resolutions, so here is an easy one we think you can keep! Build and grow your professional network. Join the new and improved online community platform exclusive to Montclair State alumni – MONTCLAIRconnect.

The Montclair State alumni network is a powerful group of more than 130,000 fellow Red Hawks in virtually every profession, across all 50 states, and in more than 75 countries worldwide. Tap into your alumni network and start making your connections today.

Connect with alumni through the directory, community and discussion boards. Search for fellow classmates, view digital programs like wine tastings and talks with faculty, check out career resources and webinars and more.

Groups are a great way to connect with fellow alumni as well as hear from faculty and staff. Join your school or college, regional group or affinity group like the Women’s Initiative Network. Start a discussion, view resources and learn about new opportunities to build your network and expand your knowledge base.

By signing on to MONTCLAIRconnect, you can search for the group that’s right for you. Educational Leadership is just one of the many groups in the platform. “Our program sought an online space where alumni, current students, and faculty could network with each other,” notes Christine Aguilera from the Educational Leadership program. “We’re using MONTCLAIRconnect to build a community focused on networking, mentorship and career development. I’m looking forward to seeing ELAD professionals participate in discussions and share events, resources and accomplishments.”

You also can volunteer to speak to students on a panel or in class, serve on a committee, help recruit the next class of Red Hawks and more. You can also sign up for flash mentorship and offer to help alumni and students with topics such as graduate school, informational interviews, or sharing your expertise about your industry.

Signing on to MONTCLAIRconnect is easy. Visit connect.montclair.edu to register and create your profile:

1. Click Alumni and Friends sign on and select Alumni user type
2. Enter your email address and create a password
3. Verify your account for instant access (you will need your legal last name, class year and alumni ID number).
