If we say career fair, you say… intimidating? overwhelming? stressful? Check out these helpful events and resources to help simplify the process of preparing for, and attending, the Montclair State University career fairs.

Attend Career Fair Prep Events

These events are open to students from all majors.  Students should bring their Montclair State University ID. Resumes are welcomed, but not required.

“Interview Roulette” with Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Date: Thursday, September 14, 2017
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Location: Atrium of the Feliciano School of Business

A representative from Enterprise Rent- A- Car will be on-hand to answer questions about the difficult task of interviewing. Spin the wheel and win prizes!


Regional News Network “Meet & Greet”

Date: Thursday, September 14, 2017
Time: 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
Location: Dickson Hall Lobby

Network with a representative from Regional News Network and learn about the company, what it takes to succeed there, and positions that are currently available.

Build or Polish your Resume

Because no one knows you as well as you know yourself – your goals, your accomplishments, your strengths – no one can write an effective resume for you, but you. You must be comfortable with every word in your resume and be able to speak easily about whatever you write.

Your Hire a Red Hawk account grants you access to the Resume Builder resource.  Resume Builder allows you to create a resume and/or cover letter utilizing a template that best matches your experience level or the profession are you pursuing.

On the day of the Career Fair

On the day of the event, you should:

  • Have plenty of copies of your resume printed.  Bring a portfolio or folder to carry them in!
  • Bring your Montclair State University ID
  • Dress in professional attire
  • Sign into your Career Fair Plus app to orient yourself with the floorplan layout and locate the four or five key employers you want to be sure to speak with.
  • Have general questions ready, such as:
    • What types of positions will you have open?
    • What kind of training programs do you have?
    • How long do people typically stay in entry positions?
    • What is a typical career path for graduates in my field?
    • What further education might I need?
    • What are the major trends in your industry today?
