Accepted Early College Students Checklist

Congratulations on your acceptance to Montclair State University! We have prepared this checklist to ensure you have an easy transition to university life. This checklist is for credit-bearing programs. Please complete all steps and contact us if you have any questions.

Step 1
Know Your Campus-wide ID (CWID) and PIN

Your Campus-Wide ID (CWID) and PIN are your keys to becoming a Montclair State University student. These were assigned to you when you were accepted to the University. You will find your CWID and PIN in your acceptance letter.

Step 2
Activate Your NETID

Your NETID is your Montclair State University email account login ID and your ID for other web-based University systems. Your NETID and instructions for how to activate it will be emailed to you shortly after your acceptance.

Once your NETID has been activated, you will begin receiving communications to your Montclair State University email account from your professor(s) and other University staff. To log in, visit gmail.com, enter your NETID@montclair.edu, use your NETID password and click “Sign in”.

Step 3
Complete Mandatory Health Requirements

The University Health Center oversees all mandatory health requirements for student enrollment. Within 48 hours of activating your NetID (step 2 of the checklist), you will be able to access the portal to upload your vaccination records. Please review the Student COVID-19 Vaccination Policy Effective Summer 2022 and Beyond for more information. Don’t delay! You may be de-registered from your courses if your vaccination records aren’t received by posted deadlines.

Step 4
Build Your Class Schedule

For Early College Program students, course registration for Summer 2022 classes is available from March 15-July 15, 2022. Course registration for Fall 2022 classes is available from April 20-August 31, 2022.

To register for classes, first view the course schedule and then log into your NEST account and on the top right corner, click on “Register for Classes”. The new site will provide you with links to look up the course catalog, register for and add/drop a class, view your class schedule, and more. Please check your acceptance letter regarding specific courses to register for if you are participating in a dual enrollment program or a specialized program/institute.  Otherwise, please view our suggested course list.

Step 5
Upload Your ID Card Photo

Upload your photo to obtain your University ID card. Visit the ID Card Office website to learn how.

Step 7
Sign Up for Orientation

Fall 2022 Early College Program students should register for one of the mandatory in-person orientation dates below:

Tuesday, August 2nd 10am-3pm

OR

Wednesday, August 17th 10am-3pm

When registering, please log in with your credentials used to apply to the Early College Program. If you don’t remember your login, please click “forgot password.”

Step 8
Pay Your Student Account

We offer a number of tuition payment options to meet your needs. Find out when bills are generated and payment options. To pay your Student Account Bill, log into NEST and on the top right corner, click on “Student Accounts”, the new site will provide you with links to view and pay your bill, set up direct deposit if needed, and information on payment plans, if applicable. If you are enrolling in a dual enrollment program affiliated with your high school, please consult with your high school advisor for details regarding your payment arrangement.

Step 9
After you finish your course(s), access Your Montclair State University Transcript

Unofficial transcripts are available only to currently enrolled undergraduate students through NEST.

  • Log into NEST.
  • Navigate to the “Register for Classes” page.
  • Select the ‘Unofficial Transcript’ link in the Registrar’s Office Tools portlet.

Official transcripts may be requested through the National Student Clearinghouse.
