Congratulations on your acceptance to Montclair State University! We have prepared this checklist to ensure you have an easy transition to university life. Please complete all steps and contact us if you have any questions.
Your Campus-Wide ID (CWID) and PIN are your keys to becoming a Montclair State University student. These were assigned to you when you were accepted to the University. You will find your CWID and PIN in your acceptance letter.
Your NETID is your Montclair State University email account login ID and your ID for other web-based University systems. Your NETID and instructions for how to activate it will be emailed to you shortly after your acceptance. As a new student, you should only choose the “CWID” related challenge question when activating your NETID.
After you activate your NetID, please wait a minimum of 24 hours before attempting to access other University systems outside of NEST.
Once your NETID has been activated, you will begin receiving communications to your Montclair State University email account from your professor(s) and other University staff. To log in, visit gmail.com, enter your NETID@montclair.edu, use your NETID password and click “Sign in”.
Within 48 hours of activating your NetID (step 2 of the checklist), you will be able to access the portal to upload your vaccination records. More information about immunization requirements can be found here.
Submit all immunization documentation through MyHealthPortal. (Please note, requests for medical exemption must be uploaded to the MyHealthPortal as well.) Learn more about how to submit your immunization forms.
Don’t delay! You may be de-registered from your courses if your vaccination records aren’t received by posted deadlines.
If you plan to continue studying a world language you have studied previously, please email firstname.lastname@example.org so we can get you added to the Foreign Language Placement Test.

If you are interested in taking Math 122: Calculus I or AMAT 120: Calculus A, please email firstname.lastname@example.org so we can get you added to the Math Placement Test.
Please Note: You will need to activate your NETID (step 2 of the checklist) before you are able to access/take any placement test(s). Exemptions for placement tests may be considered for students with AP or transfer credit. Any students who have taken AP courses should email email@example.com so we can advise you accordingly.
