A New Introduction to Art Innovation and Entrepreneurship Course (ENTR 201)

As a young artist, designer or entrepreneur, you’re already on a unique journey. How can you help this journey unfold in a truly meaningful way? 

Travel can really open up new horizons and allow you to discover aspects of the world and parts of yourself you would never have expected. To help you kick-start this journey of creative discovery, we’ve designed a unique course to take you on a journey to reimagine how your artistic and designerly skills can allow you to become a visionary creative entrepreneur. 

The program’s focus is a seven-day art+design intensive in Edinburgh and Dundee, Scotland. You’ll be meeting and working with artists, innovative change makers, and your peers at the University of Dundee. We will go behind the scenes at major museums, and get into artist workshops, design studios, exhibits, and universities, all while absorbing the rich culture and art+design history of Scotland.

In addition, to travel intensive, you will be immersed in a one-of-a-kind experiential 15-week curriculum designed to help you become a powerful changemaker and successful creative agent in the world. 

Are you ready?

WHO IS THIS FOR?

  • If you are majoring in the visual arts, design, music, acting, dance, entrepreneurship (minors too), OR, if you are a creative in any other major such as marketing, or management, with a really strong interest in these fields – this course is for you!
  • If you have not taken ENTR 201 (which is a required class for all Arts and entrepreneurship students), then this is an ideal option. Why? This section of ENTR 201 is custom designed for Artists, Creatives, and Entrepreneurs (and taught by artists and entrepreneurs) that involves a one-week immersive educational travel experience in Dundee, Scotland — Britain’s newest center for the arts and creativity.

TRIP HIGHLIGHTS:

  • We will collaborate with artists and meet with amazing creatives in Scotland while visiting some of the most cutting-edge studios and makers in Britain.
  • You will work on a creative project with your peers at the University of Dundee.
  • We will get behind the scenes with artists, curators, and designers at the V&A Dundee – Britain’s newest and most innovative museum.
  • We will visit Edinburgh, Dundee, the East Coast of Scotland, and the Cairngorm mountains in the Scottish Highlands.

  • Dundee is at the center of a thriving creative scene that extends from music to writing, to visual art to design, to game design, to ecology, food, community, and beyond.

  • Scotland is in the midst of a large cultural and ecological revolution

OTHER PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

  • During the semester you will meet with many other successful artists and creatives and learn how to use your creative skills in powerful entrepreneurial ways.

Scholarships Available

This is truly a one of a kind opportunity and we have need based scholarships to help make this possible — but, the application deadline is almost here… (and only a limited number of seats remain…)

The Details of this Genuinely Affordable All-Inclusive Study-Abroad Program:

This is a 3-credit course that may be taken as a stand-alone course or as credit towards the Entrepreneurship Minor or Concentration.

Fees in addition to tuition:
Approximately $2,900 – not yet established for 2023.

The program costs cover:
Airfare, lodging, breakfast, local transportation, and all activities.
