May 11, 2021 – Law, Democracy and Society in Times of Illiberalism

This roundtable brings together regional law and society scholars to explore the strength of the rule of law and the role of lawyers in guarding democratic institutions and norms against the encroachment of authoritarian tendencies. Drawing on extensive fieldwork and past experience, participants address these issues
from a global perspective, including the erosion of democratic norms and responses to it in Central and Eastern Europe, India, the Middle East and North Africa region, and here at home in the US.  Sponsored by the OFA and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
