Inclusive Teaching for All of Us: Promising Practices for Undergraduate, Graduate, and Professional Educators

Inclusive teaching discussions on campuses across the country are sparking conversations about feasibility, implementation, and actionable efforts. In line with Montclair State’s mission and vision, this talk focuses on student-centered inclusive teaching practices that are applicable to undergraduate, graduate, and professional instructors across disciplines and career stages.

Speaker: This public presentation features Khadijah A. Mitchell, Ph.D., M.S. who is the endowed Peter C.S. d’Aubermont, M.D. Scholar of Health and Life Sciences and Assistant Professor of Biology at Lafayette College, and co-author of the bestselling book, What Inclusive Instructors Do (2021). Professor Mitchell will provide evidence-based and intentional practices from a national inclusive teaching study that can be used in various learning contexts.

Issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion are more visible on campuses across the country than in the recent past. Join Khadijah A. Mitchell, the endowed Peter C.S. d’Aubermont, M.D. Scholar of Health and Life Sciences and Assistant Professor of Biology at Lafayette College, for this special workshop. In line with Montclair State’s mission “to provide coordinated, intentional and inclusive, person-centered experiences, services and opportunities that guide and support our students during their major exploration,” this workshop focuses on inclusive teaching of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students in classroom, STEM laboratory, and practical training settings, whether in person or online. Based on the bestselling book, What Inclusive Instructors Do (2021), this workshop is designed to build instructor confidence in using inclusive teaching strategies in any learning context.
