Research Team Publishes Free PD Resources for Mathematics Teachers

The AIM-TRU project team has recently developed free professional development (PD) resources for mathematics teachers across the country.

Led by Drs. DiNapoli, Murray, and Bonaccorso at MSU, several talented MSU doctoral students, and collaborators at DePaul University, Buffalo State, and Math For America, the team is particularly excited about these resources because they have been updated recently to reflect the demanding needs of remote mathematics teaching and learning.

These resources can be used for PD that focuses on formative assessment lessons and associated video cases of those lessons in action. The materials have been carefully crafted to help teachers learn about the lessons and how the lessons support students’ understanding of big mathematical ideas.

The resources include the following materials:

  • A set of video cases of mathematics lessons in action
    • Within each case, we have the video transcript, information about the school and mathematics lesson, a link to the lesson and remote versions of activities within the lesson
  • Facilitation guides and slide decks for both remote and in-person PD sessions
  • Orientation materials, including facilitation guides and slide decks for both remote and in-person contexts

All of these PD resources are accessible on the Analyzing Instruction in Mathematics Using the Teaching for Robust Understanding Framework (AIM-TRU) website, requires creating an account, but it is 100% free.
