Montclair State University Mathematics Education Ph.D. candidates/students Geena Taite, Amanda Provost, Frank Forte, Andre Perkoski, and Youngjun Kim recently presented their research at the annual Psychology of Mathematics Education conference in Reno, Nevada. This research team shared findings from their year-long action research study with in-service high school mathematics teachers. They noticed an increase in student engagement during modeling tasks over the course of the school year as teachers were supported through professional development.

This mathematical modeling working group out of Montclair certainly got lots of positive attention from the larger mathematical modeling education community at the conference, and their presentation was largely considered one of the best at the conference.

The entire Mathematics Department is so proud of this group. Congratulations!
