Student Commencement Speaker

Each year, students may apply to be the Student Speaker at Montclair State University’s annual Commencement ceremony. Students must be eligible to apply, and must complete an application process.

Eligibility Requirements

  • A minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
  • Graduating in the spring semester, or the prior fall or summer semesters

Application Steps

The application process has two phases:

  1. Students will submit a written application that will be reviewed by their college or school’s dean’s office.
  2. If selected as a potential finalist, students will be required to write a commencement speech to present orally before a panel of faculty, staff and administrators

The application process and its deadlines for the upcoming Commencement will be announced in February.
