Take their advice

Posted in: Uncategorized

Dennis Bone and I had a great meeting yesterday with Montclair State’s Center for Advising and Student Transitions. CAST advises freshmen, sophomores, veteran and military students, plus transfer students. Student advisers within colleges/schools and departments were also at the meeting.

Dennis Bone, director of the Feliciano Center, talks to CAST staff.

The meeting was a fantastic opportunity to talk about courses offered by the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship, including the three, 3-credit courses for our Certificate of Entrepreneurship:

ENTR 201     Entrepreneurial Mindset and Innovation (prerequisite: freshman English)

ENTR 301     Creating Your Startup Business Model (prerequisite: ENTR 201)

ENTR 302     Preparing to Pitch and Launch Your Startup (prerequisite: ENTR 301)

It was also the first time we have talked publicly about a new course the Feliciano Center will offer in fall 2014:

ENTR 290     The Entrepreneurial Imagination

The Entrepreneurial Imagination course is the brainchild of Neil Baldwin, a professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance in the College of the Arts. Neil is also director of the university’s Creative Research Center, which is a co-sponsor of The Entrepreneurial Imagination course. Like so many professors here, Baldwin is a very interesting guy and the author of several books (the one I find especially interesting, while judging a book by its cover and title, is “The Book that Changed My Life”). Baldwin came up with the idea for the imagination course and approached the Feliciano Center about creating the course and teaching it. The course will be cross-listed in the College of the Arts. Stay tuned for more info about The Entrepreneurial Imagination course.

Thanks to Michele Campagna, executive director of CAST, for allowing us to speak to her staff about our courses. Thanks to Maureen Branca, student service specialist at the School of Business, for introducing us to Michele and scheduling our appearance.

So when you’re looking for classes for fall 2014 and your adviser recommends a Feliciano Center course, take their advice…and take the course.
