PhD Candidates Present at epiSTEME 8 in Mumbai

Erell Germia and Debasmita Basu presented their research work at the Eighth International Conference to Review Research in Science, Technology and Mathematics Education (epiSTEME 8) in Mumbai, India in January 2020.

Erell’s presentation was titled “Exploring Angles in a Programming Environment” and was about her work in the project “Assimilating Mathematical and Computational Thinking into Earth and Environmental Science” , funded by the National Science Foundation.

Debasmita’s presentation was titled “Examining the role of covariational reasoning in developing students’ understanding of the greenhouse effect” and was about her doctoral dissertation. Debasmita successfully defended her dissertation in summer 2019 and she is currently an Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Quantitative Reasoning at The New School in New York City.
