National Student Scholarship

With New York City connections and world-class experiences just 12 miles away, Montclair State scholarships support students’ passions

Montclair State University now awards National Student Scholarships to high-achieving, out-of-state students. The awards guarantee that academically qualified college students pay in-state tuition, a savings of nearly 40%.

Top-tier drama, dance and theatre arts programs, communication and media, business and sustainability, fashion and the arts – in all, more than 300 programs of study – provide real-world professional experiences, including internships and career opportunities on Wall Street and Broadway and throughout the New York City metro area.

Out-of-state students with an unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale are eligible for the annual tuition reduction of $7,800. Students do not need to submit any supplemental information to be considered for in-state tuition; a review of each student’s eligibility will be conducted at the time their application is evaluated.

Why Out-of-State Students Are Choosing Montclair State

The generous financial package and the opportunity to study a hard-to-find program in Child Advocacy and Policy led Nicole Hayden, an honors student from Long Island, New York, to become one of the University’s first National Student Scholarship recipients.

“Montclair State stood out to me because of the Animation and Illustration major and its reputation. As someone aspiring to be working in the visual aspect of either the video game or film industries, the close proximity to New York City is an added bonus.”

– Brady Mock, a sophomore from New Freedom, Pennsylvania
