Arts Days

Interested in majoring in the arts or communication and media?

Montclair State University’s Arts Days provide exciting, interactive opportunities for prospective students to learn about College of the Arts programs and careers in the arts. Events feature participatory workshops with faculty, performances by our students, career talks, audition/interview-preparation tips, campus tours and more. (Plus all events are free!)

  • Art and Design Day
      • October 21, 2022 – Unfortunately the Department of Art and Design at Montclair State University can no longer host its annual Art and Design Day. We are so thrilled that you are interested in our programs and hope you can attend the upcoming Open House on November 13th.

Theatre Days introduce college-bound students to Montclair State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance. The free events feature a College of the Arts overview where students will learn about careers and auditioning; a production of our students’ work, along with a pre-show discussion with the cast and company. Learn the steps to becoming a theatre major and turning that experience into a life in the arts.

STEM Day

Stem Day Saturday April 15, 2023

Thank you for your interest in Montclair State University’s Theatre & Dance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Day! We are excited to welcome in students that have an interest in technical theatre, along with students who have interests in areas like carpentry, painting, and sewing, who want to investigate what it’s like doing these tasks in a theatrical space, and are excited to see you on Saturday, April 15!

There is a $35 registration fee for this event. This includes Class Projects, T-shirt, Lunch and tickets to a performance.

Below is the tentative schedule for the day:
Sign-In from 9:30 AM – 10 AM
Session One from 10 AM – 11:30 AM
Session Two from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Lunch from 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM
Performance begins at 2:00 PM and is estimated to last 2 hours and 35 minutes

*COVID-19 Information: Visitors are required to fill out Hawk Check before coming to campus. Fill it out at https://montclair.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ddwM6qgI20aGADz and be prepared to show it at sign-in.

University Open Houses, Info Sessions and Campus Tours

Montclair State University Open houses are a great way to gain an overview of the University and learn about programs in the College of the Arts. Open Houses feature informational sessions on the university – including a campus tour and student-services fair; an overview of the College of the Arts; as well as interactive break-out sessions for our Department of Art and Design, Department of Theatre and Dance, School of Communication and Media and Cali School of Music.

Week-day Visits to the College of the Arts

If visiting the university on a week-day, feel free to stop in at the College of the Arts’ Office of Student Services, located in Morehead Hall (open M-F 8:30-4:30), to pick up college information materials or to ask a question.

You may also visit the college’s academic buildings for a self-guided tour or to sit in on a class. (note: Contact the Office of Admissions regarding class visitations.)

College Fairs

If your high school or community college is hosting a college fair, chances are a Montclair State University representative will be there. Look for our information table and bring us your questions. You may also look for College of the Arts representatives at one of the following regional fairs:
