Montclair State University’s Mission Statement and Strategic Plan demonstrate an ongoing commitment to student learning.
Curriculum
Curricular review at Montclair State University is a collaborative process designed to ensure the integrity of the curriculum.
The Provost’s Office is working on updating the program proposal forms to make the process more efficient. Please click on the following Canvas community that contains all the forms and resources for curricular alterations, new program concept and new program proposal.

Assessment
Assessment is a critical tool that allows us to evaluate the effectiveness of our programs, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and implement meaningful changes that enhance student learning. Faculty assess Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) annually to ensure programs are supporting student success and maintaining high academic standards.
To access templates for curricular changes or program proposals, along with supporting materials and resources, please visit our Canvas Assessment Community.
Reporting
Through the annual SLO assessment process, faculty evaluate how effectively their programs foster student learning, identify areas for enhancement, and implement meaningful changes that strengthen educational quality. Assessment results are compiled and analyzed in annual college and school-level reports, providing a comprehensive view of program effectiveness. This process culminated in the Six-year External Review Committee (SERC), during which each department undergoes an external evaluation to ensure the quality and integrity of its programs and assessment practices.
For questions regarding assessment, please contact Irina Koroleva (korolevaai@montclair.edu).
