RISE Mentors will adopt a Near Peer Mentor mentorship approach. A near peer mentor goes well beyond simple achievement by using the context of the relationship to help the mentee grow developmentally, in addition to learning skills, and is a more salient role model because of the proximity in age — older enough to be someone to look up to, but young enough to be relatable and a true friend.
