Open Housing (formerly known as Gender Inclusive Housing) allows you to select suitemates based on mutual preference rather than restrictive placement policies. This option is available in most residential communities, with the exception of Bohn Hall and Stone Hall. We will use the term rather than Gender Inclusive Housing because it more accurately reflects the program’s purpose: to provide all students with housing options that meet their needs. This approach ensures that all students, including queer students and allies, feel welcome and empowered to make the best housing choices for their college experience. Open Housing is part of the general housing selection process, allowing students to live in an environment that best supports their sense of community and belonging. These options would be available to students after living at Montclair State University for one academic year.
