Nicole Panorkou (Mathematical Sciences, CSAM) was awarded $49,443 by the Spencer Foundation for “The DYME project: Developing Students’ Thinking of Dynamic Measurement,” which is an exploratory study examining an innovative way of learning and teaching geometric measurement.

Valerie Sessa and Jennifer Bragger (Psychology, CHSS) were awarded $4,450 by the C. Charles Jackson Foundation for “Longitudinal Leadership Development Study.” Now in its third year of funding, the project performs a comprehensive evaluation of university leadership development programs to determine strengths and developmental needs.

‌Diana Thomas (Mathematical Sciences, CSAM) received a $10,859 subaward from the University of Alabama for the third year of the National Institute of Health-funded project “Short Course on the Mathematical Sciences in Obesity Research.” The goals of the short course are: to expose early investigators (doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows) from the mathematical sciences and obesity research areas to the language and methodology at the interface of both disciplines; facilitate collaborations between the two groups through effective contact; and guide early investigators interested in conducting research at the interface of the mathematical sciences and obesity on the next career steps.
