Research.gov DSMP Tool in Effect for NSF Proposals

As published in the PAPPG Policy Notice, Supplement 2, proposals submitted to the National Science Foundation (NSF) as of April 27, 2026 will now require PIs to create their Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMSP) using the new Research.gov tool. PIs will be prompted to complete the DMSP for the primary Directorate they are applying to, or provide a justification if a detailed Data Management and Sharing Plan is not needed.

PIs should refer to the NSF published web page which outlines how to address each section within the tool when preparing their proposal.
