Red Hawk Pride Shines at Summer Social

Montclair State University welcomed alumni from across generations for an evening of celebration, connection, and Red Hawk pride at its annual Red Hawk Summer Social.

Red Hawks brought the spirit of community, connection and celebration to life at this year’s Red Hawk Summer Social, held at the Center for Environmental and Lifes Sciences building. Alumni and friends gathered on campus to connect with members from our various alumni affinity groups. The social offered alumni the perfect setting to reconnect with former classmates, network with new faces and learn how to stay connected with Montclair post graduation.

At the event attendees were reminded that being part of the Montclair community is a lifelong experience. Alumni were encouraged to stay involved through MONTCLAIRconnect, the university’s official online alumni platform where they can join and expand their professional network, join specific industry disciplines, discover career opportunities and mentorship connections.

Join Our Affinity Groups!

We invite you to join our affinity groups. This is a great way to connect with fellow alumni from your school/college, in your region, with shared interests and more. There’s a group for everyone on MONTCLAIRconnect!

This event was more than just a party, it was a celebration of community, connection and massive support of the Red Hawk community. Events such as this strengthen bonds, inspire giving back and create networking that supports generations of students and alumni alike. “It’s not just about remembering the past, it’s about building the future, together” said Dr. Jennifer Robinson, an emeriti faculty member. “Whether you graduated five or fifty years ago, we’re still part of the same community.”

In 1995, Montclair State University won a Teacher Quality Enhancement grant to recruit and prepare math and science teachers in partnership with the Newark Public Schools.  The name of the program was Teacher Recruitment for Urban Schools of Tomorrow (TRUST), and it aimed to prepare new math and science teachers, many of whom are still teaching in New Jersey public schools. We were thrilled to welcome back this prestigious group of alumni, and the faculty emeriti who supported this effort.

The Red Hawk Social is one of the many opportunities for Montclair Alumni to stay engaged throughout the year. Upcoming events, both in-person and virtual are available at montclair.edu/alumnini/calendar-events/.
