Students across the U.S. were invited by Under Armour to submit design proposals for future running shoe concepts at the Under Armour Design Future Show. Out of hundreds of applications, Product Design student Rodolfo Solano ’19 was chosen as one of three students to present a final footwear design at Under Armour headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland.

Throughout the competition, Rodolfo worked closely with his prestigious mentors Spencer Hawkins and Evan Caruso while also applying critical feedback from his classmates. Solano credits his preparation prior to the competition and his performance during the competition to the curriculum and faculty of the Product Design program at Montclair.

By strengthening his sketching skills, developing his researching skills, and improving his time management he was able to successfully balanced the workload of the competition while still staying on top of his academics.

“I want to be a part of the future and leave my mark.” says Rodolfo, who also participated in the Nike Ease competition and the New Balance x Pensole Masterclass.

Because of his drive to constantly improve his skillset, to nurture his design aesthetic, and to test himself outside the classroom, we are sure Rodolfo will succeed in the industry after graduation–whether with Under Armour or a another sports- and activeware-related brand.
