Student Art Exhibition Show 2023

Finley Gallery

The Finley Gallery Mission

Directed by the Department of Art & Design, the Finley Gallery exhibits a variety of creative works by the students from the Department of Art & Design courses and its major programs to share their visionary excellence with the campus, the community, and visitors.

The Finley Gallery serves the values and objectives defined in the University’s Mission, to deliver and be “a center for the creation of new knowledge and for the development of innovative applications of existing knowledge and as a center for pedagogical and artistic excellence and creativity”.

Additionally, the Finley Gallery serves and reflects New Jersey’s diverse population by delivering exhibitions of new creations and innovations that promote and deploy openness, ethical action, and global awareness. Partnering with campus and external entities, the Finley Gallery will create connections across boundaries and borders.

General Objectives and Policies

The Department of Art and Design aims to present and promote excellence among its students. The Finley Gallery promotes the works created by students of the Department of Art & Design through exhibitions organized around courses, academic programs, and content areas, e.g., foundations courses (ARFD).

Importantly, the Finley Gallery provides exhibition space to the department’s three Bachelor of Fine Arts programs as required by the accrediting body, the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, in addition to showcasing exhibitions from the two Bachelor of Arts programs the department offers. The Finley Gallery also serves the university and local communities as a site for collaborative exhibitions such as ones organized across university programs and units, and external organizations.
