Professor Catherine Bebout had a wonderful experience during her art residency in Cardiff, Wales at the Cardiff School of Art & Design and we are delighted to share her experience.

While in Cardiff Wales during her sabbatical in Fall 2022, she was mentored by the Beryl Productions animation team who introduced her to a number of British animators including faculty at Cardiff Metropolitan University. She is now applying for a Fulbright to work in their Cardiff School of Art & Design in both Printmaking and Animation departments.

“Over pandemic time, I discovered within my primary discipline of printmaking how to integrate the process with animation to produce moving images that has opened new and innovative career pathways. As a sequential process, incorporating printmaking into an animation is akin to earlier stop-motion films. I discovered when digitally combined with software and projected onto architectural forms, the resulting outcome became a hybrid form of dimensional art. These experiments resulted in animations that when incorporated with digital mapping software could then be projected in diverse, public spaces.”
