WEW 2017 at Montclair State
Montclair State University celebrated Women Entrepreneurship Week with two events in 2017, a day-long conference and an evening panel discussion:
In a standing-room-only conference center, 445 attendees at this daylong conference heard Evie Colbert talk about the birth and growth of the Montclair Film Festival in the morning, and Sally Glick offer her top tips on branding, networking, mentoring and more in the afternoon. Panel discussions included “From Kitchen Table to CEO,” which featured women entrepreneurs who started a business from scratch, and then grew it beyond what she could have imagined at the beginning, and “Entrepreneurship in the C-Suite,” with corporate execs explaining how they are entrepreneurial within a large company/organization.
Social Entrepreneurs Changing the World
This compelling event featured a keynote address by Alfa Demmellash, and then a panel of social entrepreneurs. The entrepreneurs lead organizations that empower under-served urban entrepreneurs, help undocumented students pursue careers in health care, produce films that take action on child labor and child abuse, improve community needs in Newark.
