Jayne Millard

Jayne Millard is the Chairman and CEO of Turtle & Hughes, a fourth-generation family-owned business. Co-founded by her great-grandfather in 1923, Turtle & Hughes is one of the largest independent electrical and industrial distributors in the nation. It has a long history of management by women—beginning with Ms. Millard’s great-grandmother—and the company has been one of the top 50 women-owned businesses of any kind nationwide for more than a decade.

With more than 850 employees, Turtle & Hughes is ranked among the top 16 U.S. electrical distribution companies. Headquartered in New Jersey, its extensive team of Power Distribution/Automation Engineers and Technical Specialists provide design engineering and project management expertise to the national commercial, industrial, automation, lighting and utility markets from 19 branch offices. Its division, Turtle & Hughes Integrated Supply (THIS), services Fortune 100 companies with supply chain management expertise at customer locations across the U.S., in Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Ms. Millard began her career at the Martha Graham Center for Contemporary Dance and went on to hold positions at Shearson Lehman Brothers and RCM Capital Management. In 1991, she joined Turtle & Hughes; she was appointed vice president of marketing in 1999, president of the company in 2007, CEO in 2010, and Chairman in 2016. She has served on its Board of Directors since 1986.

A graduate of the Eugene Lang School of the Arts, Ms. Millard also received an M.B.A. from Dominican University of California. She is a member of the board of The Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance. She is also a member of the Women’s Presidents Organization and the Committee of 200 renowned for fostering, celebrating and advancing women’s leadership in business.

Ms. Millard is the recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2012 Award in New Jersey.
