Reappointment Support for Teaching Faculty

Workshops and writing sessions for teaching faculty who want to work on their reappointment teaching statement.

Posted in: Uncategorized

This year the OFE is launching a new online series to support full-time teaching faculty who need to work on their teaching statement for the reappointment portfolio. Some of the workshops will focus on providing general approaches for creating a compelling narrative of your teaching career in the context of reappointment; others will offer the accountability of a writing group where participants will be able to co-work with others, share their programs, and brainstorm as needed.

Workshop: The Reappointment Teaching Statement for Teaching Faculty

Join this session to begin (or continue to) work on your reappointment teaching statement. The first fifteen minutes of the session will include a brief review of the expectations, followed by suggestions and pointers. In the remaining hour, we will lead participants through guided brainstorming. There will be time to share ideas.

Note: This workshop provides general approaches for writing compellingly about teaching and learning for purposes of reappointment. These ideas are not meant to replace or override any specific instructions you have been given by your department or college. The facilitator is not a reviewer in the reappointment and promotion ladder.

Write Now: Teaching Statement Writing Group for Teaching Faculty

This group is designed for Teaching Faculty who wish to work on their teaching statement for reappointment and would like the accountability of a writing group. We will meet on the hour to say hello and set goals, and then write quietly together via Zoom with a break midway through and time to check in to celebrate work done at the end. Breakout rooms will be available to brainstorm ideas.

Note: The facilitator is not a reviewer in the reappointment and promotion ladder.

Registering will sign you up for all the sessions in this series; we understand participants may choose not to attend all three.

The group will meet on Mondays, 10am–12pm, between Aug 11–25th.
