Geography
- BA
- Major
The BA in Geography with Teacher Certification in Social Studies prepares you to teach social studies at the preschool through grade 12 levels while earning a strong foundation in geography. This program combines coursework in physical and human geography, environmental systems, global cultures, and spatial analysis with professional teacher preparation.
You’ll complete a second major in Teacher Education and meet New Jersey’s certification requirements through coursework in instructional strategies, classroom management, and assessment. Fieldwork and supervised student teaching provide real-world classroom experience, preparing you to effectively teach geography, history, civics, and related social studies subjects.
Calling Future Teachers
The BA in Geography program prepares students to test for New Jersey’s teaching certificate in Social Studies (P–12) – qualifying you to teach across elementary, middle, and high school grade levels. This program is ideal if you want to inspire students to understand human-environment relationships and global perspectives through a broad understanding of the cultural and environmental factors that shape individuals and society.
