Whether you’re navigating education benefits, returning to school after service or adjusting to campus life, you’ll find resources designed to help you succeed from day one.

Education Benefits Overview

VA Education Office
VA education benefits help Veterans, service members, and their qualified family members with needs like paying college tuition, finding the right school or training program, and getting career counseling. You can call the VA Education Office at 888-442-4551.
Post 9/11 GI Bill®
If you’ve served on active duty after September 10, 2001, you may qualify for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33). Find out if you can get this education benefit.
VA Vocational Rehabilitation
You may receive Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) (Formerly known as Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) services to help with job training, employment accommodations, resume development, and job seeking skills coaching.
VA Education Benefits for Survivors and Dependents
If you’re a dependent spouse or child—or the surviving spouse or child—of a Veteran, you may qualify for Chapter 35 benefits or job training through a GI Bill® program. Find out if you’re eligible for VA Education Benefits for Survivors and Dependents (also called Chapter 35 benefits).
Montgomery GI Bill® Selected Reserve
The Montgomery GI Bill® Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) program offers up to 36 months of education and training benefits. If you’re a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard, you may be eligible for this benefit. Find out if you qualify.
New Jersey National Guard Waiver
National Guard Waiver covers a students’ tuition only. The Waiver does not cover a student’s fees, room/board, and meal plans. Students must obtain a signed Commander’s Certificate from their unit each semester and submit to the Office of Veteran and Military Resources.
Military Tuition Assistance
The military pays up to $4,500 per year, up to $250 per credit. Please see your specific branch’s Education Office website to see if you meet the requirements and apply for tuition assistance.

ROTC Programs
Montclair partners with Army and Air Force ROTC programs, giving students the opportunity to pursue military training while earning their degree. These programs help build leadership skills and prepare you for future service opportunities.
Activation and Deployment Support
If you are called to active duty, the university provides clear guidance and support to help you manage your coursework, communicate with faculty and understand your academic options during your service.
