Red Hawks are champions on and off the field, earning regional and national recognition while bringing the campus community together. From NCAA Division III competition to club sports and intramurals, we offer opportunities to compete, connect and show off your skills.

Recent Awards and Recognition

  • Cheerleading earned national recognition at the 2026 NCA National Championship, placing 3rd in Advanced Small Coed and 2nd in Intermediate Small Coed competition.
  • Dance Team earned top finishes at the 2026 NDA National Championship, placing 3rd in Team Performance and 2nd in Jazz.
  • Men’s Basketball reached No. 9 in the NCBBA National Rankings with a 15-4 overall record and qualified for the regional championship tournament. Head Coach Adrian Perry also surpassed 100 career coaching wins.
  • Wrestling was represented at the 2026 NCWA National Championships, with three student-athletes competing on the national stage.
  • Club Pickleball competed in the 2026 NIRSA Regional Tournament, helping pave the way for a full club program in 2026–27 and expanded participation opportunities for students.

Intramural Sports

Intramural Sports offer students an easy way to stay active, have fun, and connect with others through organized campus leagues and events for all skill levels. Open to all currently enrolled students, intramural leagues include men’s, women’s, organization, and open (gender-inclusive) options—making it easy to find a way to play that fits your interests.

Whether you’re looking for friendly competition or a more casual experience, Intramural Sports offer a flexible and welcoming way to stay involved while balancing classes and other commitments.

Club Sports

Club Sports offer you the chance to stay active, compete and build lasting connections through student-run and student-funded teams. These teams represent the University in established leagues against other colleges, while recreational clubs focus on instruction and fun—making it easy to find a level of play that fits your experience.

Club Sports teams typically practice a few times per week and compete on weekends, giving you the flexibility to balance athletics with your studies and campus life. Whether you’re continuing a sport you love or leveling up with something brand new, you’ll find a supportive and driven community ready to welcome you. All recognized Club Sports teams are supervised by the Department of Campus Recreation.

Panzer Athletic Center

Panzer Athletic Center is home to Montclair Athletics and serves as a gathering place for competition, training, and school spirit. The facility hosts Red Hawk athletic events throughout the year and provides dedicated spaces for practices, workouts, and team activities. Whether cheering from the stands or competing on the court, students can experience the energy and tradition of Red Hawk athletics.

Student Recreation Center

The Student Recreation Center is a destination for fitness, recreation, and wellness on campus. Students have access to strength and cardio equipment, gymnasium space, fitness studios, and a variety of recreational opportunities designed to support an active lifestyle. From individual workouts to group fitness classes and intramural sports, the center offers something for every interest and experience level.

Montclair State University Ice Arena

The Montclair State University Ice Arena provides year-round opportunities for recreation, club sports, and special events. As one of the university's unique athletic facilities, the arena supports student engagement both on and off the ice. Students can participate in ice-related programs, attend events, and take advantage of a facility that supports recreation throughout the year.

Aquatics - Student Recreation Center Pool

Located within the Student Recreation Center, the pool serves as a hub for aquatics programming and recreation. Students can participate in lap swimming, swim lessons, and other aquatic activities designed to support fitness and skill development. The pool offers a welcoming environment for swimmers of all abilities, whether they are training, learning, or simply enjoying time in the water.

Outdoor Adventure at Montclair offers you the chance to get outside, explore new horizons and try something bold without needing prior experience or your own gear. From guided excursions to self-led treks, the program is designed to make the great outdoors accessible, affordable and fun for every student. Our guided experiences help showcase the natural beauty of New Jersey and the surrounding region. Level up your weekend with activities like canoeing, rock climbing and hiking, all led by our trained staff.
