Campus Safety
You deserve to feel safe, supported, and confident wherever you are on campus. At Montclair, your safety is a top priority. We have resources, systems, and people in place to help you feel secure as you learn, live, and connect.
Campus Safety Resources
From prevention to response, we provide campus safety resources designed to keep you informed, protected, and supported wherever you are on campus.
Blue Light Campus
You’ll find blue light emergency call boxes located throughout campus, so help is never far away. Just one press of a button and you’re instantly connected to Montclair’s University Police Department, available 24/7 if you need assistance or feel unsafe.
Rave Alerts
You’ll stay informed in real time with Rave Alerts. Important updates — like campus closures, weather issues, or safety notices — are sent straight to your phone via text, with follow-up details delivered to your Montclair email. Your number is automatically enrolled through your emergency contact info, so you’re always looped in when it matters.
See Something? Say Something.
If something feels off, you have options. You can use the RAVE Guardian app to quickly connect with University Police, report suspicious activity, or even stay connected while walking alone on campus.
Prefer to share information confidentially? E-TIPS lets you text in tips to University Police discreetly, giving you an easy way to speak up and help keep the community safe.
Sexual Assault Support & Response
If you experience sexual assault, we have resources to help you immediately and support you long-term. Our Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) is made up of trained professionals in law enforcement, health services, and advocacy who take a victim-centered, trauma-focused approach.
You can also speak confidentially with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Women’s Center, or our Clergy Advisor. When you’re ready, you can submit a Title IX report directly to the University to ensure action is taken.
Report Concerns to the CARE Team
If you notice a student struggling or acting in ways that concern you, you can reach out to the CARE Team by submitting a report through their online form or contacting a team member directly. They review each report and connect students with the right support to keep everyone safe and supported.
