Countless Ways to Get Involved

College is more than classes — it’s where you find your people. With hundreds of clubs and organizations spanning academics, culture, service, leadership, and creativity, you can explore your interests, build real-world skills, and shape a campus experience that feels unmistakably yours. 

All student clubs and organizations are overseen by the Student Government Association (SGA) on both the Montclair and Bloomfield campuses.

Bloomfield Campus

Bloomfield offers a tight-knit involvement experience with a strong emphasis on diversity and community:

A multicultural focus influenced by Bloomfield’s Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) and Hispanic Serving Institution designation.

11 Greek organizations, including:

  • The United Greek Coalition (UGC)
  • The National Pan-Hellenic Council (Divine Nine)
  • Social fellowship organizations Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship, Inc. and Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship, Inc.
  • A competitive esports team for students interested in gaming and digital competition

Student Government Association (SGA)

The Student Government Association (SGA) is an independent, student-run non-profit organization that organizes and oversees student-run clubs and organizations. Independent from the University’s administration, the students elected to the SGA author and enforce the rules that determine how clubs should function and how they’re funded.

Each individual club is proposed by, created by, and managed by students. Whether you’re looking to find a group of people who share your interests, or you’re looking to jump into a leadership position, Montclair State’s SGA clubs and organizations can find the right fit for you.

About Registered Student Organizations

Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) are separated into four categories: Academic, Cultural, Social and Special Interest. They give students the room to express themselves and offer leadership opportunities.

Membership is open to all students, regardless of any characteristic protected by law, including race, creed, color, national origin, nationality, ancestry, age, sex/gender, pregnancy, marital status, civil union status, domestic partnership status, familial status, religion, affectional or sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, genetic information, liability for service in the Armed Forces of the United States, or disability.
