Academic Advising

Academic advising helps you plan your courses, explore your academic goals and stay on track toward graduation. Advisors work with you to build a path that aligns with your academic, personal and career goals, so you can make informed decisions throughout your time at Montclair.

Center for Academic Success and Tutoring

If you need extra help with course material, the Center for Academic Success and Tutoring (CAST) offers a range of free services designed to support your learning. Students can access one-on-one tutoring, group sessions through Supplemental Instruction and academic workshops that focus on study strategies, time management and building stronger learning habits.

Tutoring is available across a variety of subjects and is included as part of your tuition. Sessions are led by trained peer and professional tutors who help you better understand course content, strengthen your skills and build confidence in your academic work.

Red Hawk Fellows

The Red Hawk Fellows program provides additional support for students navigating unique personal and financial challenges. Designed to support students who may not have access to consistent family or housing resources, the program offers a combination of academic guidance, career development and life skills support.

Students in the program can access personalized advising, one-on-one mentoring and connections to campus and community resources, helping them stay on track academically while building a strong foundation for their future.

Writing Support

Writing support is available at every stage of the writing process through Montclair’s Writing Centers, including the Center for Writing Excellence and the Spanish Writing Center. Whether you’re brainstorming ideas, organizing your thoughts or revising a final draft, you can get guidance from trained tutors who provide feedback tailored to your assignment.

With support available across disciplines and languages, you’ll have access to the tools and guidance you need to strengthen your writing skills and build confidence in your work.

Center for Writing Excellence

The Center for Writing Excellence provides writer-centered support to students, faculty, staff and alumni across the University, with a focus on helping individuals grow as confident and effective communicators. Built on the belief that every writer can improve, the center offers individualized guidance designed to support you at every stage of your writing journey.

Bloomfield Writing and Academic Support

The Office of Tutoring, Writing and Academic Support Services provides writing support alongside tutoring and academic coaching for students on the Bloomfield campus.

You’ll have on-the-ground support right where you are—without needing to travel to the Montclair campus. Whether you’re working on a writing assignment or looking for broader academic support, this centralized resource makes it easy to get the help you need and stay on track.

CLaSE supports bilingual learning and cultural engagement across campus, connecting students with programs that strengthen both language skills and community.

Spanish Writing Center

The Spanish Writing Center, part of the Center for Latino Heritage and Spanish Language Excellence (CLaSE), supports students at every stage of their Spanish writing journey.
