Geographic Information Science
- Minor
The Geographic Information Science (GIS) Minor gives you the skills and knowledge to analyze spatial data and solve real-world problems in environmental science, urban planning, public health, and more. Through courses in GIS, remote sensing, and spatial analysis, you’ll learn to manage and interpret geospatial information using state-of-the-art software and technologies.
This minor is a strong complement to majors such as geography, environmental science, sustainability science, data science, and public health. You’ll develop marketable skills in mapping, spatial reasoning, and geospatial data visualization that are in demand across industries, including environmental management, transportation, disaster response, and business analytics. The minor prepares you for internships and entry-level positions that require GIS expertise, or to pursue graduate-level study in fields that rely on spatial data analysis.
