Biography

Dr. Christopher Donoghue is Professor of Sociology and Dean’s Fellow for Strategy and Data Analytics in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Montclair State University. 

A data-driven leader focused on inclusive excellence, he leads multiple student success initiatives, including Montclair’s Penn Resilience Train-the-Trainer program and a multi-year, campus-wide survey on student belonging. He regularly delivers presentations and workshops on evidence-based strategies, pedagogies, and institutional practices that advance belonging and inclusion in higher education. 

Since 2014, Dr. Donoghue has directed the MA in Social Research and Data Analysis, along with graduate certificates in Data Collection and Management and in Customer and User Experience (CX/UX) Research. Through these programs, he prepares students to become professional data analysts and leaders in evidence-based decision-making across a variety of research settings. 

His books include the Sociology of Bullying: Power, Status, and Aggression Among Adolescents, Statistics: A Tool for Social Research & Data Analysis, 12th Edition (with Joseph Healey), New Ideas and International Perspectives on School Bullying: A Multidisciplinary Approach (with Dorothy Espelage and Robert Thornberg) and The Practice of Social Research, 16th Edition (with Earl Babbie, forthcoming). He has also published extensively on belonging and resilience and he speaks widely on these topics.
