Biography
Colleen O'Rourke-Heredia, MPH, MA, RD, IBCLC
She holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) in International Public Health Education from New York University, which serves as the macro-level foundation for her long-standing clinical certifications as a Registered Dietitian (since 1986) and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (since 1993). Recognizing the critical need to dissolve structural communication barriers in patient-centered care, she returned to advanced academia, earning her Master of Arts in Spanish with a core concentration in Interpreting and Translation from Montclair State University in 2020.
At Montclair State, Colleen O’Rourke-Heredia utilizes her rich, cross-disciplinary background to educate students in cultural competencies. She has served as an Adjunct Professor of Global Cultural Studies and Spanish at Montclair State University since 2016. She is a highly specialized practitioner bridging clinical health science combined with cultural linguistics. She has studied and worked abroad in Spain, Argentina, Venezuela and Mexico. Her international experience abroad extends over twenty years.
