Faye Allard

Biography

I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology and a specialist in racial, ethnic, and cultural relations, sociology of education, and qualitative methodology. I was awarded my Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Pennsylvania, where I completed an extensive six-year ethnographic project, which examined the African American gender gap in high school educational achievement. I am currently directing the “Montclair Diversity Project” which is investigating issues of gender, race and ethnicity right here at M.S.U; this project was awarded the “Student Faculty Research Award” in 2009. I conducted the important study "Project Advise" for the university which has resulted in important changes in advising policy and several peer reviewed publications. I am currently looking to publish my first book based on my dissertation research titled “Mind The Gap.” I have been nominated for a Dean’s Recognition Award in Teaching and I was an "Engaged Teaching Fellow."
