Biography

Dr. Julie Mazur is an accomplished higher education professional with more than 30 years of progressive leadership experience spanning both academic and student affairs. As Senior Assistant Provost for Student Success, she oversees the Center for Academic Success and Tutoring (CAST) at Montclair State University. Under her leadership, CAST provides a comprehensive portfolio of academic support initiatives designed to promote student success, including tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, academic coaching, financial literacy education, the undergraduate academic standing process, and targeted outreach and support programs for specific student populations.

Dr. Mazur has played a key leadership role in expanding student success initiatives across the University, including collaborating with campus partners to develop and implement Montclair State's academic coaching program. Her work focuses on creating proactive, evidence-based support systems that improve student achievement, persistence, and degree completion.

Dr. Mazur earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University. Her research has examined the relationship between gender, institutional type, and student engagement, with a particular focus on students pursuing STEM disciplines.
