Biography
Spring 2018 Office Hours: Tuesday 2:00 - 4:00 pm, Thursdays 12:00 - 1:00 pm, and by appointment.
Dr. Montaperto has tutored and taught composition for almost twenty years. Her scholarly interests focus on intersections between critical race theory and composition and rhetoric, in particular on how invisible white privilege manifests and functions as a form of racism in higher education. She has presented at CCCC, the Feminism(s) and Rhetoric(s) conference, and other national and local conferences. Her current academic interests focus on issues related linguistic diversity and language prejudice (linguicisim), and the disciplinary and institutional mis-implementation of organizational missions toward language equity within first year composition courses and in the professional development of teachers of writing. Though she predominantly teaches first year college writing, she also teaches other courses within the department and regularly teaches the Introduction to Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies course.
