Biography

Dr. Britton is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Montclair State University. She directs research at the Britton Auditory Exposome lab, which investigates how environmental, physiological, and lifestyle factors across the lifespan shape auditory health. Her research examines how these factors contribute to individual differences in auditory function, susceptibility to auditory disorders, and long-term auditory outcomes, with a particular focus on tinnitus and decreased sound tolerance, including misophonia. She teaches graduate courses spanning genetics, pharmacology, tinnitus, noise, and medical audiology.

Research

The Britton Auditory Exposome lab investigates how environmental, physiological, and lifestyle factors across the lifespan shape auditory health. Our research examines how these factors contribute to individual differences in auditory function, susceptibility to auditory disorders, and long-term auditory outcomes. We study auditory disorders in the context of whole-body health, combining population-level epidemiology with laboratory-based physiological and audiological assessment to identify modifiable targets for prevention and treatment.
