Biography

Nicole Conklin, Ph.D., is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Psychology at Montclair State University. Her research lies at the intersection of conservation psychology, environmental communication, and informal science education, examining how experiences in zoos, aquariums, and other conservation settings influence learning, emotional engagement, and conservation behavior. Through partnerships with community organizations, zoos, and science centers, her work evaluates educational programs and develops evidence-based strategies to foster meaningful connections between people and the natural world.

In addition to her research, Dr. Conklin teaches courses in research methods and experimental psychology, where she emphasizes hands-on research experiences and community-engaged learning. She directs the Conservation Psychology Research and Evaluation Lab, mentoring undergraduate students in all stages of the research process—from study design and data collection to statistical analysis and scientific dissemination.

Dr. Conklin also serves as the Coordinator of Montclair State University's Online Bachelor's Program in Psychology, where she supports online students and works with faculty to enhance the quality of online psychology education. Outside of the university, she enjoys going to the movies, CrossFit, and spending time with family and friends.
