Biography
Dr. Nina Mauceri is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Montclair State University’s College for Education and Engaged Learning (CEEL), with a primary focus on the university’s Alternate Route pathways to teacher certification. Her work spans undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation and includes working with both pre-service and in-service educators.
Grounded in urban education, Dr. Mauceri’s teaching and scholarly interests include educational equity and inclusion, teacher preparation and practice, literacy and language development, school culture and institutional change, and the ways curriculum and pedagogy shape students’ experiences of belonging and opportunity. Her ethnographic research examines how urban schools attempt to become LGBTQ-friendly and how institutional change unfolds in practice. She is particularly interested in helping educators connect research and theory to the everyday realities of classrooms, schools, and the communities they serve.
Dr. Mauceri brings more than twenty years of experience in education to her teaching and scholarship, including work as a classroom teacher, school administrator, instructional leader, consultant, and researcher.
Dr. Mauceri holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Teaching & Learning: Urban Education from New York University, an M.S.Ed. in Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education, and a B.A. in English and American Literature from New York University.
