Shea Scruggs

Biography

Shea Scruggs serves as Director of the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University. He brings a wealth of experience as an arts administrator, educator, and former professional oboist. Prior to this role, Scruggs served as the Chief Enrollment Officer and
Director of Institutional Research and Musician Experience at the Curtis Institute of Music, where he led initiatives in admissions, alumni engagement, and institutional research. As an oboist, he has performed with many orchestras, including the Baltimore Symphony, San
Francisco Opera, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Chicago Symphony. He has also appeared as a soloist and chamber musician and taught internationally. Scruggs completed the League of American Orchestras Essentials of Orchestra Management program and is a founding member of the Black Orchestral Network. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University and is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and Swarthmore College.
