Biography
Thomas Wilson graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in Music Education in 2010. After graduation, he got a job at Barringer High School in Newark, NJ as a choral director and general music teacher He also worked as a band director and guitar instructor over the years, and in 2018 he was awarded the inaugural J. Dilla Music Technology grant from VH1 Save the Music, which was used to create a Music Technology program at Barringer. Since then, Tom has transformed the program into an official Program of Study where the students earn dual enrollment credits from colleges and are able to take a Pro Tools certification exam. Tom has written many board-approved CTE curricula for Newark Public Schools for various programs of study such as Music Technology, Carpentry, Allied Health, Teacher Education, among others. Currently, Tom works at Lakewood High School leading the Recording Arts and Orchestra programs, and over the summer he is the Managing Director of the Jazz House Summer Workshop in Montclair.
