Showcase: Interactive Activities

Composition is a critical component in the understanding of any two-dimensional medium. In ARST205 – Photogrpahy – Professor Adams has created a low stakes formative assessment in order to determine how well students understand how compostion is used in this dynamic medium. Working with the H5P Image Choice element, students have to choose between different photographic examples and select the ones (5 in total) that illustrate strong composition and a good use of the background. Following the completion of the exercise, a linked discussion requires students to describe the reasoning behind their decisions. Interactive course components can create great opportunities for fostering student engagement and subject interest in any discipline.

H5P is a free and open-source content collaboration framework that can be created and accessed in a standard browser. The H5P authoring tool allows faculty and instructional designers to create a wide variety of interactive content for courses in all modalities. Book an appointment with an instructional designer to learn more about H5P.
