Upcoming Events

  • The University’s new food vendor, Gourmet Dining, LLC, will be on campus for a tasting party at the Student Center ballrooms and patio on Monday, April 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature interactive stations, exhibits and presentations on the new dining service which begins in July.
  • President Koppell and Bloomfield College President Marcheta Evans will appear on a webinar hosted by The Chronicle of Higher Education about modern strategy for higher education Tuesday, April 25 at 2 p.m.
  • Our radio station, WMSC FM 90.3, is celebrating Vinylthon and Record Store Day with a 48-hour, weekend-long, vinyl-only music live broadcast, starting this Saturday at midnight and will showcase the best WMSC shows – with some old, some new, but all vinyl, including Dr. K’s Vinyl Fantasy Funhouse Saturday at 11 a.m. (Dr. K is President Koppell’s alter ego with a passion for all things funk and paisley print.)
  • Check out what our students have been researching at the Student Research Symposium from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Conference Center on the 7th Floor of University Hall.
  • Join Red Hawk alumni, students, employees, friends and parents for the One Day for Montclair fund drive on April 27 to make a big impact. Show your Red Hawk pride by using One Day for Montclair Zoom backgrounds in support.
  • World’s Fair Day is Thursday, April 27, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. This annual campus-wide event celebrates the rich diversity of Montclair State University.
  • Take Charge of Your Change, an in-person and virtual lecture for employees, will be held Friday, April 28, 11 a.m. – noon. Health and wellness coach Laurie Reynolds will provide tools for creating lasting lifestyle changes. The event will take place in the Student Center room 411. Registration is required if attending virtually.
  • Last chance to see the John J. Cali School of Music and Department of Theatre and Dance production of On the Town at the Alexander Kasser Theater on Saturday, April 22, 2 p.m. Tickets are $20.

  • Rocky’s Closet is accepting donations of Montclair caps and gowns to help students celebrate their accomplishments at Commencement. For more information please contact, rockyscloset@montclair.edu or escobark@montclair.edu.
  • Submit your publications for recognition in the University Authors program. Faculty and staff publications or creative works published or produced in 2022 or 2023 are eligible. To submit print publications, use this form. For media (CDs, DVDs and others), use this form. Deadline for submission is today, April 21.
  • Instructional Technology and Design Services invites faculty to submit proposals to present at the 18th Annual Summer Institute conference, held June 7-8. This year’s conference focuses on critical issues in pedagogy and digital learning. Deadline for submission is today, April 21.
  • Administrative Appreciation Day is Wednesday, April 26. Treat your admins to lunch in the Student Center Dining Room from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Montclair State University Ice Arena hockey and figure skating summer camps are now open for registration.
  • Explore offerings from Learning and Development for a variety of leadership and professional development opportunities available this spring.

  • 25Live, which enables the University to optimize the use of classrooms, meeting rooms and other spaces available on campus, will soon be used as the University calendar on montclair.edu. Make sure your events get listed! Learn how by registering for online or in-person training.
  • The Employee Assistance Program provides free, confidential support services for University employees and their families – including locating resources for substance abuse, mental health and self-help. For more information, see the attached CONCERN brochure.
  • Worried about a student’s well-being? Please refer them to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).
  • If you or a loved one is experiencing a mental health crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988, the new nationwide 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline for free, confidential support, 24/7.

Kudos

  • To Tarika Daftary-Kapur (Justice Studies) and Tina Zottoli (Psychology) who were awarded a grant from the American Bar Endowment under their Opportunity Grant Program, for a project, entitled, “Competency of adolescent defendants to enter guilty pleas: Development of a rapid screening tool for attorneys.”
  • To Christopher Parker (Classics and General Humanities) whose play I Hear the Cry of Orange will be presented in a professionally staged reading by Premier Stages of Kean University as part of the Healing Voices: Caregivers’ Stories festival on Sunday April 30, at 3 p.m. in the Enlow Recital Hall. This is his ninth professionally produced short play since 2015.
